Jun 19 Where My Magic Mushrooms At?

If I were to use three words to describe Curious Palette - It Never Disappoints. We had only finger food & waffles the first time we visited sometime last year.

The idea to visit Curious Palette last weekend - on a Sunday - was an impromptu one; with half the idea derived from shortlisting cafes (that serves good food) in the vicinity of Bugis and Dhoby Ghaut. It was less crowded as compared to the last we visited; on a Saturday. Not too sure of the dinner crowd but I would be willing to queue for a simple fact that they serve really good quality food.

For the portobello fans, the first on the list has got to be the Magic Mushrooms (SGD 14.90). The mushrooms were gigantic and there were about 12-15 pieces in one serving. A little overwhelming for two diners but we still managed to wipe them all because it's SO DAMN GOOD. That heavenly moment when you slice a deep-fried piece and the moist, not oil, just ooze out naturally....

Koon ordered from the Mains - Pulled Pork on Sourdough (SGD 18.90). Pretty decent, as the meat was not too dry nor tough, which makes it easy to chew. And hey, the dish comes with a poached egg! Who doesn't love poached eggs?

I wanted some comfort food for the day and partly to cover some guilt from eating too much of those deep-fried mushrooms so I chose Eggs on Toast (SGD 10.90). You can choose how you want your eggs to be done; Scrambled, Sunny Side Up or Poached. Then, choose the type of Bread; Ciabatta, Multigrain or Sourdough. The serving is HUGE and I couldn't finish my scrambled eggs.

I couldn't bear not to have the desserts because their waffles are da yum! We had the waffles with greek yogurt previously so we got something different this time - the Buttermilk Waffles with Vanilla infused Strawberry Compote (SGD 12.90). The strawberry compote fell a little short of my expectations because I expected it to taste similar to the one from Marche. Aside from that, the fluffy waffles definitely got our thumbs up!
