I LOVEEEEEE eating seafood and it's pretty much in my mind all the time whenever I think of food. And especially so when I head to neighboring countries like Malaysia or Indonesia because Seafood is much cheaper there. As a Singaporean, my favorite dishes are undoubtedly very Singaporean-ish; i.e. Sambal Sotong and BBQ Stingray. I had this post drafted a while ago, but haven't got time to put them together properly but this was one of the best dinner I had in Bali so I can't possibly let this be missed!

Lia Cafe was recommended to us by a group of travelers we acquainted with during our Rafting Tour! This is what I absolutely love about traveling because 1) You get to meet new people and 2) You tend to get really good recommendations from these people! This happens pretty often to us and in a few countries before, where we heeded people's recommendations and never once did the recommendation go wrong :) So why Lia Cafe?

1. Food is cheap (for Bali standards)
2. Nice (and romantic) ambiance, located at a beachfront
3. Gorgeous sunset view

We got there really early, at 4.30pm for dinner and were the 2nd group of customers at that time. The ordering process was fuss free and our food was served in less than 20 minutes!

We ordered "Paket 2", a Combo meant for 2 pax and it includes:

  • Fish (0.5 kg)
  • Crab (0.5kg) which is approx. 2 small crabs
  • Prawns (10 pcs)
  • Clams (8pcs)

The combo also comes with 2 soft drinks (we changed to Fresh Coconuts), rice, a plate of stir-fried vegetables, soup, salad, and fruits. Don't place too high expectations on the sides (i.e. soup / salad) though! It's super light and basic and not the western kind of salad or coleslaw.

This combo costs only RP 375,000 which is approx. SGD 40!! Extremely affordable imo. For SGD 20 per pax, you get to enjoy a wide variety of bbq seafood in a pan! This is almost impossible to find in Singapore taking into consideration the quantity and quality of the food. There are 3 different types of sauce to go with the seafood but honestly, the food is already as good as it is! Somewhere and somewhat between the sweet and mild spicy range and even though it looks really red, it's not spicy at all! My picks would be the snapper and squids, YEUM!

We were licking our fingers away when the crowd started flocking in towards the late evening... and that was when our beach view slowly went from this:

to this:

We thought we got the best view until the restaurant staff started setting up more tables and chairs in front of us. Hahaha. We also asked them to kindly remove our sun shade so we could have a unblocked view of the beach front. It was useful though, at 4-5ish when the weather was hot! When the sun starts to set, our view gradually transited to this...

So beautiful my heart is melting again ༼♥ل͜♥༽

It's best to be there early if you are planning to head there so you can grab a good seat and enjoy the view, and of course the food! Even if you don't feel like having seafood, there are also a lot of other restaurants and bars along the same stretch. Honestly, what I really enjoyed most was the ambiance and it's a bonus that the food was good enough to leave an impression on us (that's why I am sharing this)!
